A universe of awe encircles me,
Adrift on surging and violent seas,
I cling to the last shards of life looking
For stars now swallowed by cloud.
Waters lapping about my neck,
Blackness pulling me into endless deep
Where there is no foothold to be found.
My eyes grow dim waiting for you.
O Universe of Stars and Light,
Your face turns away in shame.
The wrongs I have done are hidden no more.
I am a stranger in a universe of light.
