5. Penitence

Blue eyes red with weeping,
Head bowed, hands clasped in reverence,
Ears straining to hear the silent words
Floating heavenward from beating heart.
Hear my prayer O Vast Universe,
Listen to the sound of my cry,
Give ear to the words of my mouth,
Save me from myself, vindicate me.
I am weary with my moaning,
Every night I flood my bed with tears.
I drench my couch with my weeping,
My eye wastes away with grief.
