6. Release
Inspired by Psalms 5 and 6
My eye wastes away with grief.
I cannot bear your rebuke, my love.
Be gracious to me for I am withering,
Heal me, for my very bones are troubled.
O Spirit of Life in heaven and earth,
You delight not in wrongdoing.
Evil may not sojourn with you.
With abundant love would I enter your house.
Then softly, in my suffering silence,
I hear you speak the words I long to hear,
‘Welcome back, husband, father, lover,
To the land of the living, to love and light.’
AA Step 6—We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
